Get Started on Your Educational Journey by Planning Ahead

As a new student, making the choice to go back to school can be overwhelming. However, with the right approach and resources in place, it can be an exciting experience. Being aware of the processes and tasks you’ll need to complete to get registered, how to organize your time and plan for the support you’ll need, has the potential to impact your education in a positive way. Here's a comprehensive look at ways to prepare yourself for your educational journey:

  • Admissions Process: The admissions process is the first important step in your higher education journey. It involves filling out applications, submitting transcripts, test scores, and other required documents. These tasks take place on a timeline to make sure you’re able to start classes when you want to. Don’t worry, your Admissions Representative will be with you every step of the way.

  • Chat with your SSA: When you enroll at DeVry, you are assigned a Student Support Advisor (SSA) who serves as your go-to person for all non-academic issues. This includes anything from financial aid to personal issues. Scheduling regular chats with your SSA will help you stay on track with any changes or updates related to your enrollment status. You've got this and we’ve got you.

  • Generate a Financial Plan: Going back to school comes with a financial commitment. While it is essential to have a plan to manage these costs, at DeVry, we’re committed to helping put higher education within reach. Ways to prepare yourself include creating a budget, applying for financial aid, and researching scholarship opportunities. Your company may also offer tuition benefits, which would help you get closer to achieving your goals more affordably. In fact, your company may partner with DeVry. We work with many organizations to offer additional tuition savings.

  • Class Registration: Once you have been accepted into a program, the next step is to register for classes. It is important to have your schedule set up in a way that works for you and allows you to balance your academic and personal responsibilities. At DeVry, all of our programs are 100% online, which may help you balance your life. You can reach out to your SSA for help in navigating this process.

  • Home Workspace: Creating a dedicated workspace at home is essential for those who are pursuing higher education. This space should be quiet, free from distractions, and have all the necessary tools to enable you to concentrate on your studies.

  • Dedicated Time for Yourself: Lastly, make sure to dedicate time for yourself. Establishing a weekly schedule for classwork will help you balance your academic and personal responsibilities better. This includes setting aside time for self-care, exercise, and leisure activities that help you recharge your batteries.

At DeVry, your success is our goal. When you prepare for your education and utilize DeVry’s around-the-clock resources such as 24/7 tutoring, e-library access and an inspiring online student community, you’ll have the tools and encouragement you need to tackle your studies when and where it works for you.
