14 of 15 Elijah Watt Sells Award Winners Prepared for the 2009 CPA Exam with Becker Professional Education

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., January 26, 2011

Becker Professional Education, a part of DeVry Inc. (NYSE: DV), today announced that 14 out of 15 2009 Elijah Watt Sells Award winners prepared for the CPA Exam with Becker’s CPA Exam Review, the global leader in CPA Exam preparation.

The Elijah Watt Sells Award, first awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 1923 to honor CPA pioneer Elijah Watt Sells, is presented to the 10 CPA candidates, who, on their first attempt, achieve the highest cumulative scores for all four sections of Uniform CPA Examination within a calendar year. This year the number of award winners was unique because multiple candidates received identical cumulative scores, resulting in a tie, therefore increasing the total number of winners to 15. The AICPA has been awarding Watt Sells Awards to CPA candidates nationally for the past five years. During those five years, 47 of the 55 total winners prepared with Becker.

“We are honored that so many of Becker Professional Education’s students have been recognized for this award over the past five years and would like to congratulate all of the 2009 award recipients for demonstrating such mastery of the subjects covered by the exam,” said John Roselli, president of Becker Professional Education. “Passing the CPA Examination requires a high level of diligence and we are extremely proud of the competence and commitment these individuals have shown.”

Becker Professional Education offers a completely integrated CPA Exam Review course that maximizes study time and replicates the exam in every way, providing students with the greatest chance of passing the CPA Exam. In fact, students who prepare with Becker pass at double the rate of non-Becker candidates, based on averages of AICPA-published pass rates.
