DeVry University Marks One-Year Anniversary of Bridge to Brilliance Initiative

Initiative Advances AI-driven Education and Workforce Readiness Across the Caribbean

LISLE, Ill. May 14, 2026 – DeVry University is marking the one-year anniversary of its Bridge to Brilliance initiative, a program designed to expand access and provide a more affordable, high-quality education across the Caribbean.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform industries worldwide, DeVry is embedding AI literacy and skill building into every course by the end of 2026. This commitment expands access for every student to develop the technical proficiency and applied fluency needed to succeed in an AI-augmented workforce.

“As AI continues to reshape the global workforce at an unprecedented pace, the gap between current skills and emerging industry demands is widening.” said Scarlett Howery, vice president of strategic partnerships at DeVry University. “Employers are no longer just hiring for talent, they’re investing in upskilling their existing workforce to stay competitive. That’s why we’re proud to partner with organizations across the Caribbean to help bridge that gap and expand access to educational opportunities, ensuring learners are equipped with the skills needed to thrive.”

Over the past year, DeVry has welcomed students from multiple Caribbean nations into our programs and established partnerships with employer associations and educational institutions throughout the region.

Regional leaders say the Caribbean must adapt quickly to remain competitive in an AI-powered economy. Sonia Edwards, president of the St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Human Resource Professionals said building AI-ready organizations is now a strategic necessity. “DeVry and Keller are not just places where I went to get a degree,” he said. “It was the foundation; they prepared me for a rapidly evolving industry.”

“Investing in AI training is a strategic imperative, one that positions small island economies to innovate, compete and lead on the global stage,” Edwards said. The organizations that will define the next decade are those to choose to equip their people for what’s ahead. The region must focus not only on access to technology but also on cultivating a culture of continuous learning within workplaces.”

In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, DeVry has strengthened collaboration with the private sector through its partnership with the chamber of commerce.

“AI in the Caribbean has the potential to be transformational,” said Tony Regisford, executive director of the chamber. “It could usher in efficiencies and innovations in the manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and services sectors that would drive the economy forward. Initiatives like Bridge to Brilliance are helping to align workforce development with the region’s most critical industries, ensuring Caribbean talent remains competitive on the global stage.

The Bridge to Brilliance initiative provides scholarships to support qualifying learners, supporting access to affordable, high-quality education. The university remains focused on deepening partnerships across the region while preparing learners and employers for the opportunities and challenges of an AI-powered economy.
