Naperville, Ill. – Oct. 18, 2023 – DeVry University announced today the expansion of its academic programs for aspiring and current professionals within the field of accounting to address critical workforce skills gaps.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects openings of more than 126,000 accountants and auditors per year through 2031. 82% of hiring managers cite recruitment for accounting and financial positions as a big challenge. DeVry is doing its part to address this opportunity by offering new and enhanced accounting offerings.
“The changes to DeVry’s accounting program reaffirm our commitment to helping close the opportunity gap by providing new pathways for learners at different points in their career journeys,” said Shantanu Bose, Ph.D., DeVry University’s provost and chief academic officer. “Growth in the accounting field continues to outpace supply of new professionals. As educators, we must help prepare learners for today’s business world.”
Under the expanded academic portfolio, a new Undergraduate Certificate in Accounting Program will be launched to introduce students to essential principles required for entry-level roles. This certificate can be earned as a standalone credential or embedded in the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree program.
Additionally, two new options within Keller Graduate School of Management’s accounting master’s degrees will be offered: General Accounting and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Exam Preparation. Keller will also update CPA exam preparation courses in January 2024 to align with the evolution of the Certified Public Accountant exam.
The new accounting program portfolio will go live in November. Learn more about DeVry’s accounting programs here.
