Naperville, Ill. – Sept. 18, 2023 – DeVry University sponsored Closing the Activation Gap: Converting Potential to Performance by Upskilling the Workforce to gain a deeper understanding of the state of upskilling in the U.S. and to determine what barriers exist for ongoing professional development. We partnered with independent research firm Reputation Leaders to survey more than 1,500 American workers and hundreds of American companies about their interest in and access to skills building. After analyzing the research through the lens of gender, race, and employment, we uncovered insights that indicate how upskilling programs may not be designed in a way that is accessible and equitable.
