DeVry University Celebrates the Success of its Team USA Athletes at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

Student and alumni athletes win eight medals at the Olympic Games, and one named flag bearer at closing ceremony

Naperville, Ill – Aug. 26, 2021 - With the medals awarded, the iconic moments still echoing in the minds of sports fans around the world and the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 officially closed, DeVry University, an official education provider of Team USA, is excited to continue celebrating the achievements of its student and alumni athletes.

Team DeVry has a roster of 44 athletes competing in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 who are current students or alumni of DeVry University or its Keller Graduate School of Management; 28 competed at the Olympic Games and eight claimed medals for their performances.

Team DeVry won more than just medals. They also won over the respect of their teammates. Kara Winger (Javelin Throw, MBA ‘16) was selected by her fellow Team USA teammates as flag bearer during the Closing Ceremony.

DeVry University congratulates every member of Team DeVry who have already represented Team USA with such passion and poise, and eagerly anticipates cheering on the 16 alumni and current students competing in the Paralympic Games.

DeVry University is an official education provider of Team USA. Since 2011, more than 650 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls have enrolled at DeVry University to pursue a certificate, associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree program. To date, 215 are now graduates and are ready to begin their professional careers when they transition from their athletic pursuits.
