MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – Jan. 10, 2019 – DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management are proud to announce the opening of their new Merrillville Center at 8488 Georgia St. in Merrillville, Ind. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday, January 15, and will include Councilman Richard L. Hardaway (2nd) and Merrillville Chamber of Commerce Board Member and Crown Point City Councilman Andrew S. Kyres (3rd) as speakers. Also in attendance will be Lake County Commissioner (1st) Kyle Allen, Business Manager for the Northwest Indiana Building Trades Council Randy Palmateer, DeVry University faculty, students, alumni and friends.
DeVry recently moved from its previous Merrillville location, about a mile away, to a new space that will provide a more collaborative education environment for its students. The new center includes two classrooms, break out areas for student groups, a student lounge, an academic support center and administrative offices. The design and layout offers an open floor plan in the lobby and common areas. The classrooms and computer room are also more spacious and comfortable for students.
“We are proud to be a part of the Merrillville community for more than two decades,” said Corey Ochall, dean of campuses – Chicagoland. “We’ve established ourselves as a part of the community and we’re thrilled to be able to continue providing educational opportunities in Northwest Indiana.”
DeVry University offers associate, bachelor and master degree programs, online or at one of its 45+ locations nationwide, including Merrillville.

It teaches higher thinking and promotes higher achievement, it is just the kind of good neighbor we need.”
The ribbon cutting is: Tues., Jan. 15, 5-7 p.m. at the new Merrillville Center, 8488 Georgia St.
The ceremony will focus on the importance of higher education being rooted in the community. “One of the reasons I ran for office is because I enjoy giving back to my community and enhancing our quality of life, and I thank DeVry for doing the same,” said Kyres, who has served the 3rd district of Crown Point City for 15 years.
