DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., February 16, 2016 - Today, DeVry University released the winter 2016 issue of its Journal of Scholarly Research, a collection of academic papers written by university faculty members. This issue marks the fourth installment of the journal, which is published biannually.
“The Journal of Scholarly Research underscores the academic excellence our faculty bring to their fields,” said Donna M. Loraine, Ph.D., chief academic officer and provost of DeVry University. “Their perspective provides a platform for conversation and creative thinking about education in the classroom and beyond.”
A multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed journal, the Journal of Scholarly Research promotes academic and professional advancement of DeVry University faculty, staff and administration.
Articles featured in the winter 2016 edition include:
- “The State of Retirement in America: Why Johnny (and Jane) Can’t Retire,” Christopher S. Rodgers and Deborah Hedderly, examining how over the past 15 years, Americans have seen their retirement savings, equity in their homes and their employment security essentially evaporate.
- “Bifurcations and Newtonian Properties of Chua’s Circuits with Memristors,” Wieslaw Marszalek, exploring new opportunities provided by memristors in electronic circuits and mobile devices, as well as in computer engineering, telecommunications and astrophysics.
- “Medicine of Mindfulness: A Prescription for Faculty Vitality and Student Learning,” Jerry Durbeej and Sarah M. Nielsen, proposing that mindfulness reinforces teaching and learning, and exploring the impact mindfulness can make in the learning environment.
- “New Learning Models and Methodologies Shaping the Future of Higher Education,” Andrea Henne and Shawn A. Schumacher, examining how colleges and universities in the United States and around the world are transforming traditional methods of teaching and learning.
The journal also features a book review, a new letters to the editor section and a call for DeVry Brasil professors to submit articles.
