DeVry University Appoints Ivonna Edkins Los Angeles West Metro President

LOS ANGELES (August 31, 2015) – DeVry University recently announced the appointment of Ivonna Edkins as president of the Los Angeles West metro in California. Edkins will lead the university’s Long Beach, Anaheim and Sherman Oaks campuses.

Edkins joined DeVry University in 2009 as the Long Beach campus president, providing oversight for admissions, registrar, student finance, student services, faculty and academic affairs. She successfully led the consolidation of two DeVry locations and construction of a new campus site in California.

“Ivonna has proven herself as a strong and dynamic leader at DeVry University’s in the Los Angeles area with a results-oriented mindset that has benefited the university and our students,” said Shelly DuBois, group vice president of DeVry University’s west region. “Her collaborative attitude has made her an effective leader, and we look forward to seeing that teamwork continue in her new role as Los Angeles West metro president.”

Edkins brings more than 10 years of leadership and management experience to her new role. She has served as director of enrollment and campus director at University of Phoenix, and vice chancellor of Jones International University.

“DeVry University’s Los Angeles West metro is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of our students who want to take on new educational and professional challenges,” said Edkins. “I look forward to expanding my leadership responsibilities and building deeper relationships with our students and faculty as metro president.”

Edkins is currently working toward her doctorate in educational leadership at Trident University International. She earned her human resource management certificate and master’s degree in business administration from University of Phoenix.
