LOS ANGELES (August 31, 2015) – DeVry University recently announced the appointment of Brian Porter as president of the Los Angeles East metro in California. Porter will provide executive leadership at the university’s Pomona, Colton and Palmdale locations.
Porter has been with DeVry University since 2002, when he served as center dean and senior center dean of DeVry University’s Philadelphia campus. He then moved to the university’s New York metro to serve as campus dean before heading west in 2009 to join the Los Angeles metro, where he most recently served as the Sherman Oaks campus president.
“Brian has demonstrated his flexibility and motivational leadership style throughout his career at DeVry University,” said Shelly DuBois, group vice president of DeVry University’s west region. “We are excited about the innovative thinking he brings to our team and look forward to his continued leadership as he takes on this new role for the Los Angeles East metro.”
Before joining DeVry University, Porter held several educational leadership positions in private sector higher education. He also served a distinguished 24-year career with the U.S. Navy, where he was selected as a master training specialist and eventually became a director for advanced weapons systems training.
“I’ve worked with DeVry University in multiple capacities across the country with the mission of educating our students and preparing them for their professional careers,” said Porter. “I am honored to make an even greater impact as metro president and lead our students and faculty across the Los Angeles East metro campuses.”
Porter earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration from University of Phoenix.
