DeVry University Champions Career Success as it Celebrates its 80th Anniversary

New Personalized Career Guidance, Leadership Initiatives, and Online Resources Underscore University’s Commitment to Supporting Career Success

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., March 07, 2011

DeVry University’s rich history began in 1931 when Dr. Herman DeVry pioneered an innovative curriculum that enabled working adults to obtain an education grounded in employer needs, ultimately leading to rewarding careers. As DeVry University celebrates its 80th anniversary, the University is launching three new initiatives that will deliver quality career insight, practical business understanding and relevant educational information for those who seek career development.

“DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management are dedicated to championing meaningful careers for those seeking a brighter future,” said David J. Pauldine, president of DeVry University. “The Keller Career Services program with CareerBuilder, Career Advisory Board and Career Igniter provide job seekers and our students the unique resources and coaching support to pursue their dream careers.”

DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management’s Career Services Program powered by CareerBuilder

Keller Graduate School of Management today launches a first-of-its-kind, personalized career services program for its graduate students in conjunction with CareerBuilder, the global leader in human capital solutions. Through the Keller Career Services program, students now have access to a dedicated team of career experts – strategists, writers and coaches – for a high-level, personalized approach to career development.

Eligible Keller students are individually assigned a Career Strategist to mentor them through an intense 90-day career search that encompasses assisting with establishing goals and expectations to customizing a personalized job search strategy. In addition, Keller students will have access to a Certified Career Coach for live mentorship on various topics such as interviewing techniques, career path planning, networking and workplace etiquette.

Additionally, a CareerBuilder professional writer will assist Keller students in the creation of career-related materials, such as keyword-rich resumes and cover letters to help Keller students stand out among job applicants. The new Career Services program also offers students access to a comprehensive online portal with relevant articles, resources and webinars.

Career Advisory Board

In January 2011, DeVry University established the Career Advisory Board, a panel of leading business and academic representatives, career experts and authors who will provide real and actionable advice for job-seekers. The Career Advisory Board will also provide commentary and insight on trends, economic forces and cultural shifts that impact career opportunities for today and tomorrow.

Founding members of the Career Advisory Board include executives representing CareerBuilder, Cisco, HP, IBM and Microsoft. The Career Advisory Board will generate ongoing, proprietary research and commentary, creating tools and resources to prepare job-seekers for success. The Career Advisory Board will soon release its first research findings.

Career Igniter

DeVry University, along with Microsoft and CareerBuilder, recently launched Career Igniter, a unique online experience that includes tools and expert advice particularly useful to job hunters in these tough times. Those looking to change careers will find inspirational articles and videos from marketing managers to multimedia programmers, information technologists and others who talk about what they do and how they got there. The site’s helpful tools even include “supply” and “demand” maps, which compare the number of people looking for work in various industries to the number of employers advertising jobs, by region. The site is a one-of-a kind effort to help real people find their dream careers.
