HOUSTON, April 25, 2011 - DeVry University has announced the appointment of Dr. Kim Nugent, Ed.D as president of its Houston metro. Prior to joining DeVry University, Nugent held a variety of roles with private, post-secondary education provider Education Management Corporation, most recently as vice president of faculty development. She also held education leadership positions at Argosy University, Dallas; Brown Mackie College, Garland, Texas; South University, West Palm Beach, Fla. and The Art Institute of Houston.
Nugent earned a doctorate in education and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in education from Capella University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas.

In her new position, Nugent will be responsible for supporting DeVry University’s mission to foster student learning through high-quality, career-oriented education integrating technology, business and management across the Houston metropolitan area. Nugent succeeds Dr. Claude Toland, who was recently appointed vice president of student and career services for the DeVry University system.
DeVry University opened its first Texas location (Irving-Dallas) in 1969, and its first Houston location in 2003. DeVry University’s main Houston campus is located at 11125 Equity Drive and has centers in the Houston Galleria and Sugar Land.
