Jeff H. Blake appointed to oversee DeVry University’s newest Phoenix Valley location

GLENDALE, Ariz., April 01, 2010

DeVry University, one of North America's largest degree-granting higher education institutions for business, technology, and management education, announced that it has opened the university's newest Arizona location at 6751 N. Sunset Blvd. in Glendale. Classes at DeVry University Glendale are expected to begin in July. The Glendale center is DeVry’s 95th location in 26 states and Canada.

At its new Glendale location, DeVry University will offer the school’s undergraduate degree programs through its colleges of Business & Management and Engineering & Information Sciences. DeVry University offers market-driven curricula, blended on-site and online learning options, small class sizes and accelerated program scheduling. DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management will also offer a number of master degree programs in business and technology in Glendale. DeVry University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

“We are very pleased to welcome DeVry University to the city of Glendale,” said Mayor Elaine Scruggs. “DeVry’s expansion into Glendale will welcome positive impact as it creates more opportunities for people to access quality higher education programs. DeVry’s location in Westgate City Center will add to the growing employment centers in western Glendale.”

DeVry University also announced it has appointed Jeff H. Blake as center dean for the new Glendale location. In his new position, Blake’s responsibility will be to ensure that DeVry University achieves its mission to foster student learning through high-quality, career-oriented education integrating technology, business and management across the Phoenix area.

Blake most recently was dean of Keller Graduate School of Management programs at DeVry University’s main Phoenix campus and dean of graduate studies for the Phoenix metro. Prior to joining DeVry in January 2003, he served as the director of organizational development for Schwab University in Phoenix. Blake served as an Arizona state committeeman in 2009 and 2010 and previously served as an elected board member of the Health Systems Agency of Health and Human Services.

“DeVry University has proudly served the greater Phoenix Valley for more than 40 years,” said Blake. “We are pleased to provide area residents with yet another convenient location where they can access DeVry’s proven career-focused associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.”

DeVry University has been providing high-quality, career-oriented education in Arizona since 1967 with locations in Phoenix and Mesa. As of fall 2009, more than 2,000 students were enrolled at DeVry University in Arizona.
