DeVry University Introduces Bachelor of Science in Management Degree

BSM degree completion program provides students the business acumen and skills required for success in management careers

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., September 16, 2009

Despite the overall softening of the job market, the demand for an education in business or management is expected to rise by 17 percent through 2013, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and National Center for Education Statistics. To accommodate this expected growth, DeVry University is introducing a Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM) degree completion program to its portfolio of career-oriented degree programs.

The new BSM degree completion program is focused on developing strong general management skills that graduates can apply to a broad array of supervisory roles in a variety of different fields and industries. Students, who have an associate degree or some college background, will be able to begin coursework towards the BSM degree completion program starting on October 26, 2009, when it will be offered at 36 locations in nine states, including California, Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Virginia.

“The addition of the BSM degree further expands DeVry University’s offering of degree programs that prepares students for in-demand 21st Century careers in the field of business and management,” said David J. Pauldine, president of DeVry University. “The BSM degree completion program is designed to provide students with additional versatility based on their previous business education and recent work experience. All our academic programs are designed to help meet the needs of today’s employers, many of whom partner with DeVry University.”

The BSM program adds to DeVry University’s existing suite of business programs, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and the Bachelor of Science in Technical Management (BSTM). While each of the three business degree programs has a slightly different focus on levels of prior education (right out of high school, college credit or an associate degree), all programs offer students the business acumen needed to succeed in the most competitive and professional environments.

Students enrolled in the BSM program have the option of declaring a concentration in General Management. The program was created with this option to support students whose careers are expected to require versatility as a direct result of their prior track history of combining work with learning. In addition to general management, graduates of the BSM program will be prepared for a broad range of managerial careers in areas such as accounting, project management, small business management, entrepreneurship and human resource management.
