Veronica Calderon

Chief Inclusion, Belonging and Equity Officer

Veronica Calderon is the chief inclusion, belonging and diversity officer at DeVry University. Among her responsibilities, Calderon will lead the implementation of the long-term vision and goals of diversity, equity and inclusion at the university, including building new diversity, equity and inclusion programs and training for students, faculty and colleagues and oversee its business resource groups (BRGs).

 

A diversity, equity and inclusion leader in multiple sectors, Calderon most recently was the Senior Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity at Truliant Federal Credit Union. She has served in similar roles at Aldersgate Life Plan Organization – a long-term care community organization, Carolinas HealthCare System and Wells Fargo Bank.

With her work, Calderon has also received numerous honors, most recently by the Charlotte Business Journal’s Women in Business Achievement Awards and by Career Mastered Magazine as part of their Diversity IMPACT 50 List, which highlights the achievements of the nation’s leading women change makers in Diversity & Inclusion. She was also named UNC Charlotte Empowering Latina Women of the Year and Business Women of the Year by La Noticia Exelente Awards.

Calderon is also on the executive boards of the Communities in Schools, in Charlotte, NC., and the Latin Chamber of Commerce, where she is also Vice Chair. She is also a board member of the Financial Pathways of the Piedmont.

Calderon holds an undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and an MBA from Belk College. She also earned a Diversity & Inclusion certificate from Cornell University, Human Resources and Diversity &Inclusion certification from SHRM, and certificate for the Charlotte Chamber Emerging Business Leaders.
