Before joining DeVry in 2020, Monahan spent more than two decades building and leading innovative technology, data, and services companies, including serving as Executive Chairman of ProKarma and on multiple public and private boards. He was previously CEO and Chairman of CEB, a C-suite advisory company that equips leaders of global organizations with insights, tools, and actionable solutions to transform enterprise performance. Under Monahan's leadership, CEB grew to nearly $1 billion in revenue and $3 billion in enterprise value, serving more than 10,000 companies globally, including 90 percent of the Fortune 500.

Monahan is currently serving as the Executive Vice Chair of the DeVry University Board of Trustees, providing insight, advice, and counsel to further support the University in achieving its mission. He is also a Board member of Transunion (NYSE: TRU), Chair of its Audit & Compliance Committee, as well as a member of its Nominating and Governance Committee. He is a former Board member of Workforce Logiq (a Carlyle Group portfolio company, sold to Magnit); Winsight (an HPS Capital portfolio company, sold to Informa, PLC); and, until its October 2018 sale, Convergys (NYSE: CVG), where he served as Chair of the Compensation Committee. Monahan also acts as an advisor to several private equity and venture capital funds.  He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Economic Club of Washington D.C.

Monahan also teaches and guest lectures on the topics of data analytics, digital business, and service-based business models at Georgetown, University of Maryland, Dartmouth and DeVry University and its Keller School of Management. He is a respected authority on management issues, particularly strategy, technology, corporate governance, and ethical leadership. His writing on business and talent development has been featured in Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Financial Times, CNBC, Corporate Board Member, The Washington Post, Barron’s, Times Higher Education, and multiple other publications.
