You might not know that DeVry University offers millions of dollars in scholarships and grants every year, including $40 million in available funds for the 2012-2013 school year with $10 million by July 8. These are gifts that you do not have to pay back, and they are available to students in both the United States and Canada.*

We have a wide variety of scholarships available. To qualify for a DeVry University Scholarship, you must first meet the following criteria:

  • You must have applied for admission to DeVry University.
  • You must have met the DeVry University entrance requirements.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen, Canadian citizen, or permanent resident of the U.S.

In addition, each DeVry University scholarship has its own unique qualifying criteria. Below you will learn more about the different types of scholarships from DeVry that may fit you. An academic advisor can also help you identify scholarship opportunities and complete applications.

Certain scholarships require students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In these cases, DeVry University scholarships will be awarded after all federal, state and other financial aid has been determined.

New Technology Students

Technology Scholarship

Our country needs more college graduates to fill all the technology jobs available today. To help meet this demand, we're now offering $4 million in technology scholarships to qualified new students.

 

This award recognizes students enrolled in a technology-related degree program. Open to all new students who meet the following criteria:

 

  • Enrolled in College of Health Science, Media Arts and Technology or Engineering and Information Sciences
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.8 (78% on a 100 point scale) OR
  • SAT score of 1,000 or higher (Reading and Math) or ACT composite score of 23 or higher OR
  • CPT Composite score of 320 or higher (Canada only)

 

Deadline: Recipients have one year to apply and start at any DeVry University location.
Award amount: $2,500 per semester (valued up to $22,500)
Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars of $4 million are exhausted
Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online
Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA and be enrolled in 9 credit hours per semester

 

High School Graduates/GED Recipients

Presidential Scholarship

The prestigious Presidential Scholarship provides half tuition for its exceptional high school graduate recipients.

 

Open to all 2012-2013 high school graduates who meet the following criteria:

 

  • Recognized as a Herman DeVry Scholarship recipient
  • Minimum of 3.33 CGPA (on a 4.0 scale) and in the top 50% of graduating class (where possible). 83% on a 100 pt. scale and 73.3% for Canadian students.
  • ACT composite score of 24 or higher or SAT combined math and critical reading score of 1100 or higher or CPT composite score of 320 or higher (Canada only)

Deadline: Verification documentation (GPA. test scores) must be submitted to be considered for this scholarship. Those chosen have one year from high school graduation to apply and start at any DeVry University location.
Award amount: Half tuition (valued up to $32,000)
Number available: 122 Scholarships offered totaling $1,300,000.
Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA and be enrolled in 12 credit hours per semester

 

Herman DeVry Scholarship

This merit award provides tuition assistance and, provided all eligibility requirements are met, allows recipients to be eligible for the prestigious Presidential Scholarship.

 

Eligibility

 

  • Open to all 2012-2013 high school graduates and GED recipients
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (75% on a 100 point scale or,
  • GED score of 2800 (65% for Canadian students) or
  • ACT composite score of 22 or higher or SAT combined math and critical reading of 950 or higher or a CPT score of 320 or higher (Canada only)

Deadline: Recipients have one year from high school graduation or GED completion to apply and start at any DeVry University location.
Award amount: $2,000 per semester (valued up to $18,000)
Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars of $5.5 million are exhausted
Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online
Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA and be enrolled in 12 credit hours per semester

 

Great Start Scholarship

This scholarship provides tuition assistance to new students who want to earn a bachelor's degree at DeVry University.

 

Award amount: Scholarship will be calculated as percentage of their enrolled tuition amount and varies based upon student's incoming GPA as follows:

 

  • 10% scholarship for 2.0 - 2.49 GPA
  • 15% scholarship for 2.5 - 2.99 GPA
  • 20% scholarship for 3.0 and above GPA

Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars are depleted
Offered: Kansas City campus, Kansas City Downtown center, Miramar campus, Ft. Lauderdale center and Miami center only
Continued eligibility:

 

  • Must maintain a 2.0 CGPA
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours per semester

Tuition Rewards Grant

This scholarship provides tuition assistance to new students who initially enroll and maintain full time enrollment while earning their degree at DeVry University.

 

Award amount: After successfully completing a semester, $500 tuition grant will be applied to next semester's student account. Two (2) additional grants can be earned with continuous enrollment in the subsequent two consecutive semesters. Maximum value is $1,500.

Offered: Fremont campus, Daly City center, Oakland center, San Jose center, Phoenix campus, Glendale center, Mesa center, Columbus campus, Columbus North center, Miramar campus, Ft. Lauderdale center and Miami center only

Transfer Students

 

Community College Presidential Scholarship (NEW!)

 

This new scholarship recognizes high achievers who have completed an Associate Degree from a Community College. This scholarship provides tuition assistance for those who want to earn their bachelor degree at DeVry University

 

Open to all graduates who meet the following criteria:

 

  • Must complete an Associate Degree (not from DeVry University)
  • Must be a new student to DeVry University
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.33 or better

Deadline: Recipients have five years from earning the Associate Degree and start at any DeVry University location.
Award amount: 1/2 tuition
Number available: Limited to $750,000 or funds are exhausted
Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online
Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA and be enrolled in 9 credit hours per semester

 

College Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship provides tuition assistance to community college students who want to earn a bachelor's degree at DeVry University.

 

  • Earned at least 20 transferable credit hours
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale

Award amount: $2,500 per semester (valued up to $22,500)
Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars of $7.5 million are depleted
Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online

  • Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA
  • Enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester

Great Start Scholarship

This scholarship provides tuition assistance to new students who want to earn a bachelor's degree at DeVry University.

Veterans

 

Veteran's Appreciation Grant

Extending our appreciation for military service, DeVry University offers a Veteran's Appreciation Grant to help offset the costs of higher education and make college accessible for hardworking, talented students who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

 

Open to new and continuing students who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, their respective reserve forces, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard) and can provide a copy of one of the following items:

 

  • DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty
  • NGB22 National Guard Report of Separation or Record of Service

 

Award amount:

 

  • Undergraduate award per semester: $500
  • Graduate award per session: $250
  • Lifetime cap per student ($4,500)

Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars of $1.5 million are depleted
Offered: United States, onsite or online
Continued eligibility:

 

  • Must maintain a 2.5 CGPA
  • Undergraduate students must enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester

Note: Current member of the U.S. Armed Forces (those serving on active duty, guard, reserve, and their spouses) who qualify for the military tuition rate and veterans who received a dishonorable discharge are not eligible for this grant.

 

*General Scholarship Policies

  • Scholarship recipients are responsible for all other educational expenses.
  • Only degree-seeking students enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester will receive a scholarship award unless otherwise noted in the criteria.
  • Scholarship applications must be received prior to the start of classes to be eligible.
  • To qualify for scholarship funds, students must maintain continuous enrollment on a semester basis. Students may take only one semester off during their enrollment.
  • Students eligible for multiple special tuition rates, pricing programs or scholarships receive the one most beneficial.
