You’ll learn relevant skills, giving you a hands-on foundation in engineering technology, information technology and software and information systems. You will learn to conduct tests and measurements, analyze the results and design and implement solutions.

With an Associate in Engineering Technology, you can consider careers including, but not limited to:

 

  • Electrical Engineering Technician

    As an electrical engineering technician, you may assist an electrical engineer with designing, developing and testing electrical systems and controllers. Your work might be more theoretical or more hands-on, depending on the specifics of your position.

  • Field Service Technician

    Field service technicians install, maintain and repair equipment and may work in virtually any industry. Unlike computer use support specialists, who work mostly from a remote computer, field service technicians spend most of their time traveling to sites where the equipment is housed.

  • Engineering Technician (General)

    If your interests are broad, you might enjoy this position. Instead of specializing in a single area, general engineering technologists can solve many different types of engineering problems. You may be able to work under a specialized engineer in an area such as field engineering, product design or technical operations in nearly any imaginable industry.

  • Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Industrial Engineering Technician

    Apply engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout or manufacturing production, usually under the direction of engineering staff. May perform time and motion studies on worker operations in a variety of industries for purposes such as establishing standard production rates or improving efficiency.

  • Electro-Mechanical / Mechatronics Technicians

    Operate, test, maintain, or adjust unmanned, automated, servomechanical, or electromechanical equipment. May operate unmanned submarines, aircraft, or other equipment to observe or record visual information at sites such as oil rigs, crop fields, buildings, or for similar infrastructure, deep ocean exploration, or hazardous waste removal. May assist engineers in testing and designing robotics equipment.
