Shantanu Bose , Ph.D.

Provost and Chief Academic Officer, DeVry University

Shantanu Bose, Ph.D., is the provost and chief academic officer for DeVry University. He is responsible for driving the academic vision and providing leadership for achieving the highest academic quality. He oversees all academic affairs including the areas of curriculum and instruction, faculty and academic operations, accreditation and academic policies, academic programs, course and instructional design, the Registrar, and other educational processes.
 
Bose and his team provide oversight of DeVry’s learning management system (LMS), student outreach system, and offer guidance to the academic technology team. He chairs the Program Enhancement Committee and co-chairs the Persistence and Retention Committee to achieve the highest standards in teaching, program development and student success. Bose joined DeVry in 2013, and most recently served as general manager of strategy and program development. He has made significant contributions to many of DeVry’s programs, including leading the launch of the rapidly growing medical billing and coding program and the inaugural launch of DeVry Bootcamp.  
 
Previously, Bose held various leadership roles. He was group vice president at School Specialty, Inc., a K-12 education products and services company, and worked for American Greetings at their Cleveland headquarters and in Asia as the director of its Far East division in Hong Kong. While at McKinsey & Company, he was an engagement manager and worked on strategic growth projects in the U.S. and overseas.
 
Bose received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology. While earning his master’s degree in chemical engineering and a doctorate in supply chain management from Purdue University, he was a recipient of the university’s Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching.
