Chief Innovation and Partnerships Officer, DeVry University


Robert Wrubel is the chief innovation and partnerships officer at DeVry University. He is responsible for driving innovation strategies and processes, specifically with differentiated programs and services that connect workforce needs and employer requirements for a marketplace that is continuously shaped by rapid technological change. Wrubel also supports the University with the development and implementation of strategic partnerships that accelerate innovation and product development, as well integrate new capabilities and competencies.

A seasoned startup CEO, public market executive and business leader capable of creating, building and growing innovative new brands, products and companies, Wrubel brings expertise in online learning, digital media, brand building and innovation to the CIO role. Before joining DeVry, Wrubel was an executive with Noodle Partners, an online program manager delivering educational services and support to U.S.-based colleges and universities to aid in bringing their programs online, and was CEO of HotChalk, a provider of online educational programs and services to non-profit colleges and universities supporting business models and growth strategies, which is now owned by Noodle Partners.

His career highlights also include restructuring Apollo Education Group’s marketing and technology platforms as chief innovation officer and Executive Vice President of the global online educational services company. He also built and launched Ask Jeeves from a Berkeley University start-up to a multi-billion dollar public company and national brand as its Founding CEO, President and Director, and built Jump Start Learning & Knowledge Adventure, from start-up to a leading educational software company as its chief operating officer and vice president, Product Development.

Wrubel holds an undergraduate degree from Yale University, where he imparted his expertise to the Yale University Digital Strategy Advisory Board and was an advisor and mentor to the Yale University Yale Entrepreneurship Institute.
