Banco Popular Scholarship

Available to adult learners interested in returning to school to begin or complete their college studies, the Banco Popular “American Dream” scholarship provides needed funds to students who demonstrate exceptional need. As a result, the program provides a gateway to adult students to reach their fullest potential.

  • Open to adults students who meet the following criteria:
    • Live in Illinois, Texas, New Jersey, New York or Florida
    • Attend the Chicago IL, Irving TX, North Brunswick NJ, Long Island City NY, or Miramar FL campus (in state of residency)
    • At least 19 years of age as of December 31, 2008
    • Provide proof of Banco Popular Account
    • Meet DeVry University entrance requirements
    • Show exceptional need by falling within the FAFSA expected family contribution (EFC) range of $0 to $5,000 for initial qualification (Student does not need to meet this criterion for continued eligibility.)
  • Deadline: March 29, 2009
  • Award amount: $1,000 per semester (valued up to $9,000)
  • Number available: 30 scholarships awarded per approved market
  • Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.0 CGPA, and a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester for half the award amount or 12 credit hours per semester for the full award amount

Transfer Students

Transfer Scholarship

Community college students or associate degree holders who want to complete a bachelor's degree can receive a Transfer Scholarship from DeVry to help finance continuing education.

  • Open to transfer students who meet the following criteria:
    • Earned an associate degree from a nationally or regionally accredited two-year college with a final CGPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
    • Applied and started with DeVry University within one year of the official college graduation date
  • Verification: Unofficial transcript
  • Award amount: $1,000 per semester (valued up to $6,000)
  • Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars are depleted
  • Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online
  • Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 3.0 CGPA on a 4.0 scale and a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester

Cisco/CompTIA Scholarship

Two-year college graduates with technical certification can get help paying for a DeVry degree program through the Cisco/CompTIA Scholarship. The scholarship helps foot the bill for a technology degree qualification that adds unmatched value to your resume.

  • Open to all accredited (national or regional) two-year college graduates who meet the following criteria:
    • Successfully completed IT Essentials I or CCNA Semester I prior to entering DeVry University, and have received one of the following:
      • Certificate of Completion from Cisco or CompTIA stating successful completion
      • CCNET Certification
      • CCDA Certification
      • CCNP Certification
      • CCDP Certification
      • CCIE Certification
      • CompTIA A+ Certification
    • Applied and started with DeVry University within one year of the official college graduation date
  • Verification: Unofficial transcript or qualifying certificate mentioned in eligibility section
  • Award amount: $1,200 per semester (valued up to $7,200)
  • Number available: Unlimited, until scholarship dollars are depleted
  • Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online

Geek Squad® Services Scholarship (for Electronics and Computer Technology)

If you long to be techno-exceptional but financial need hinders you from earning your degree, this need-based scholarship for new, minority undergraduate students accepted into fulltime study in the DeVry Electronics and Computer Technology degree program could be the first step to a dream career.

  • Open to new, minority undergraduate students beginning full-time study in the Electronics and Computer Technology degree program who meet the following criteria:
    • Accepted at one of the following DeVry locations: Phoenix, AZ; Fremont, CA; Long Beach, CA; Pomona, CA; Sherman Oaks, CA; Westminster, CO; Orlando, FL; Miramar, FL; Alpharetta, GA; Decatur, GA; Chicago, IL; Addison, IL; Tinley, Park, IL; Kansas City, MO; North Brunswick, NJ; Columbus, OH; Fort Washington, PA; Houston, TX; Irving, TX; Federal Way, WA; Colorado Springs, CO; San Diego, CA; Henderson, NV; Elk Grove, CA; Fresno, CA; Colton, CA; Tampa, FL; San Jose, CA; Bakersfield, CA; and DeVry College of New York
    • Demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Finance
    • Completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Continued eligibility: Maintain full-time enrollment in the Electronics and Computer Technology program (readmits are not eligible)

Educator Fellowship

With coursework charged at 60 percent of the prevailing tuition rate, DeVry's Educator Fellowship puts an undergraduate or graduate degree within reach and helps educators keep up-to-date on the latest trends and opportunities in business and technology and hone the skills needed to be successful in these fields.

  • Open to full-time administrators, faculty and administrative staff at an elementary, middle, junior or high school, or at a nationally or regionally accredited two-year college or not-for-profit four-year college/university.
  • Verification: Fellowship Employment Verification Form filled out completely and signed by the candidate's employer at an eligible institution.
  • Deadline: Must apply for the fellowship prior to starting classes and begin classes prior to August 2009.
  • Award amount: Awarded students are charged at 60% of the prevailing tuition rate
  • Number available: Unlimited, or until fellowship dollars are depleted
  • Offered: United States and Canada, onsite or online
  • Continued eligibility: Must provide employment verification form to the Campus Registrar, to the Center Dean or, in the case of an online student, email to the registrar prior to each semester.
  • Other requirements:
    • Must proceed through the traditional application for admissions process and meet admissions requirements
    • May enroll in undergraduate or graduate coursework for which you are eligible, full or part-time, matriculating or non-matriculating
    • May attend onsite or online
    • Continuing students may apply if they become eligible. However, current students who have not applied for the fellowship prior to beginning courses can only be awarded going forward (applied to student's financial aid package during the next session), and will not be retro-activated for any reason.

AMVETS Scholarship

Awarded on the basis of financial need, the DeVry AMVETS Scholarship provides exceptional opportunity to veterans of the military as well as their spouses and natural or adopted children to pursue more affordable higher education with financial aid awarded each semester.

  • Open to veterans (and their immediate family members) of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, their respective reserve forces, the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard who meet the following criteria established by both AMVETS and DeVry:
    • AMVETS CRITERIA
      • Demonstrate financial need to continue your education; not receiving 100% tuition reimbursement
      • Not an employee or family member of AMVETS National Headquarters or DeVry University
      • Submit a complete, signed application together with all supporting documentation, if any, by the deadline dates. (The application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to applicant.) The application includes the following:
        • Completed and signed AMVETS/DeVry University Scholarship Form (download from http://www.amvets.org/devry or call 877-726-8387, ext 4031)
        • Comprehensive essay on one of the following topics:
          • What A Higher Education Means to Me
          • My Long Term Career Goal Is…
          • America Needs to Support Veterans and the Active Duty Because…
      • Essay must be a minimum of two (2) full pages not to exceed a maximum of four (4) pages. Essays not meeting the minimum or exceeding the maximum page numbers will not be considered. In addition the essay must be double spaced, in 12-point font, on 8”x11” paper and paper-clipped together (please no staples).
      • Copy of Veteran's DD214
      • Signed copy of applicants or parent(s)/guardian(s)' 1040 tax form (for most recent year). Form will be used to verify financial need.
      • Resume
      • Letter of recommendation
    • AMVETS will provide a list of fifteen (15) ranked applicants to DeVry University. Of the fifteen (15) submitted, ten (10) will be selected and those remaining that meet the DeVry University requirements will receive awards the following semester. The selection of applicants will be made without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, condition or disability or any other unlawful consideration.
    • DEVRY CRITERIA
      • Has been selected by AMVETS and appears on AMVETS Scholarship candidate list
      • Student is a United States citizen or a legal resident
      • Student has applied for admission to an undergraduate or graduate degree program at DeVry/Keller in the United States
      • Application fee and tuition deposit paid at time of application (This is required for undergraduate applicants only.)
      • Meet DeVry University current admissions requirements and accepted into chosen degree program
      • Awarded the scholarship prior to starting classes at DeVry.
  • Deadline: Must begin classes at DeVry or Keller within two semesters of being awarded the scholarship.
  • Award amount: $1,000 per semester per award (valued at up to $9,000)
  • Number available: Ten (10) per semester / Thirty (30) total per year
  • Offered: Within the United States, onsite or online classes
  • Notification of award acceptance: Recipients of the awards must notify DeVry University and AMVETS of their decision to accept or reject the award within thirty (30) days of being notified that they have been selected.
  • Continued eligibility: Must maintain a 2.0 CGPA on a 4.o scale and continuous enrollment. Full-time student (minimum of 12 credits) receives 100 percent of award per semester. Half-time student (minimum of 6 credits) receives 50 percent of award per semester. Anything less than half time will result in loss of scholarship.

Veteran's Appreciation Grant

Extending our appreciation for military service, DeVry offers a Veteran's Appreciation Grant to help offset the costs of higher education and make college accessible for hardworking, talented students who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

  • Open to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, their respective reserve forces, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard). Current member of the U.S. Armed Forces (those serving on active duty, guard, reserve, and their spouses) who qualify for the military tuition rate are not eligible for this grant.
  • Verification: Student must provide a DD 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, or an NGB 22, National Guard Report of Separation or Record of Service. The discharge characterization or disposition must not be a Dishonorable Discharge. Student Finance will award the grant to the student after review of provided documentation.
  • Award amount: $500 per semester for a full time student (valued at up to $4500). Part-time students will receive a prorated grant, but must carry at least 6 credit hours per semester (e.g., 6 hrs = $250.00, 9 hrs = $375.00 per semester).
  • Number available: Unlimited
  • Offered: Any United States location or online.
  • Continued eligibility: Enrollment for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale are required for continued eligibility.
  • Other information:
    • This grant is available to all Veterans who provide the specified documentation.
    • If the student withdraws from the institution and has to reapply for admission, the student will be required to resubmit the military service documentation needed to reinstate this grant. In this case, prior semester usage of this grant will be deducted from the total grant amount.
    • Students who qualify for employee tuition benefits, current military rate, AMVETS scholarship, or any other DeVry grant or scholarship are not eligible for this grant.
    • This grant may be used in conjunction with the G.I. Bill or any state veteran's programs, provided the funding source is outside of DeVry, Inc.
    • Students receiving Vocational Rehabilitation funding from the Veterans' Administration are not eligible for this grant.
