In today’s tough economy, it’s important not to give up on our aspirations. Though it takes hard work and determination, pursuing your dreams through an education is possible in any economic situation. At DeVry, we believe in encouraging our students to pursue their educational and career-related goals—even if they may seem difficult or even impossible to achieve.
Paul Boyd, a 1993 DeVry University graduate, can speak to this truth better than most. During his time at DeVry, Paul found himself in a difficult economic situation, and realized that in order to obtain his degree, he would have to pay his own way. Through working the minimum of 50 hours per week that was required by his job as assistant manager at Pizza Hut, and taking advantage of DeVry’s “Educard” financial aid program, Paul was able to complete his Bachelor’s of Business Operations in just two years and eight months.
When you take a tenacious Midwestern work ethic like Paul’s, and couple that with the strong, career-focused education that DeVry provides, success in today’s economy is still possible. Paul still credits his success to his experience working his way through school: he’s gone on to achieve his own dreams, and is now president of EFA Processing, LP, in Frisco, Texas. He’ll tell you a bit more about his experience at DeVry University in his upcoming guest blog post.
