First it was “platform-as-service.” Then “free or low-cost versions” of the Cloud.  Now “high performance computing” may be the newest must-have Cloud capability.

According to an online news source, a recently established European contender in the Cloud industry is about to offer unsurpassed networking speed, nearly tripling the data exchange rate between servers when compared to two of the market’s major competitors.

We still need to achieve that kind of Cloud efficiency in the U.S., an analytics firm claims.

And this is just this kind of race-to-the-finish that makes it likely that the Cloud industry will offer growing career opportunities for years to come.

For now the Ethernet is the go-to choice for most enterprises. But as more providers utilize the wired fabric that enables High Performance Computing, it may be the way of the future.
