While studying online is the easiest option for students living outside the United States or Canada, you may also study onsite at one of DeVry's more than 70 locations.

Onsite study will require a valid student visa. Read below to find requirements for a US student visa and requirements for a Canadian student visa.

Applying for a US student visa

All applicants for a US student visa must provide:

  • A form obtained from DeVry or an ESL partner organization. The form must also be signed by both you and the DeVry school official.
  • A completed non-immigrant visa application form (OF-156), with photo. These forms are available at the embassy at no charge.
  • A passport valid for at least six months after the proposed date of entry into the United States.
  • A receipt for the visa processing fee and a receipt showing payment of the visa application fee.

All applicants should be prepared to provide:

  • Transcripts and diplomas from previous institutions attended.
  • Scores from standardized tests required by the educational institutions such as the TOEFL, SAT, GRE, or GMAT.
  • Financial evidence that shows you or your financial sponsor have sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses during the period of your intended study. For example, if you or your sponsor is a salaried employee, please bring income tax documents and original bank books and/or statements. If you or your sponsor owns a business, please bring business registration, licenses, and tax documents, as well as original bank books and/or statements.

Applicants with dependents must also provide:

  • Proof of your relationship to your spouse and/or children (for example, marriage and birth certificates).

It is preferred that families apply for F-1 and F-2 visas at the same time, but if the spouse and children must apply separately at a later time, they should bring a copy of the student visa holder's passport and visa, along with all other required documents.

Applying for a student visa in Canada

In order to receive your study visa for Canada, you must have met all enrollment requirements and have been admitted to DeVry. Then, the following must be presented to an immigration officer:

  1. Valid study permit - IMM1294 Form, obtained from the Department of Immigration.
  2. Valid passport.
  3. Letter of acceptance from DeVry.
  4. Proof of financial support (i.e., bank statement, tuition fee receipt or additional items that may be
required by the Department of Immigration).

Applicants should check with their embassy, high commission or consulate for other pertinent requirements. International applicants must submit payment of the registration fee and first semester tuition prior to starting classes.

The level of career services offered to international students/graduates varies and depends on employment opportunities permitted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and/or on students'/graduates' visas. DeVry provides career-planning strategies to international students on request.
