Both scholarships and grants are gifts that you do not have to pay back. DeVry University offers 7,500 scholarships up to $25 million each year. These scholarships are available to current and prospective DeVry University students in the U.S. and Canada.

One of our most unique awards is the Employment Gap Scholarship, which was created to serve the needs of recently displaced workers. Visit the Adult Students section below for more information.

Requirements

If you are applying for a DeVry University scholarship, please be sure you meet the following requirements:

  • You have applied for admission to a full-time degree program at DeVry University
  • You have paid the application fee
  • You meet DeVry University's entrance requirements (LOQ – Level of Qualification)
    • Dean's Scholarship: Placed standard
    • All other Scholarships: Placed standard or developmental
  • You are a U.S. or Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of either and attend Campus/Center in respective residential country
  • You are beginning DeVry University within one calendar year of graduating from high school, or earning a state-issued GED certificate, depending on scholarship type (e.g., All June '08 graduates must begin classes by 2009 spring term) Exceptions to this are the Adult Banco, Amvets, and Fellowship

These are tuition based scholarships and students will be responsible for all other expenses such as housing, lab fees and books.

Presidential Scholarship

The most substantial of all DeVry University awards, the prestigious Presidential Scholarship provides half tuition for the exceptional high school graduates who are chosen for it. Winners, who must also be awarded the Dean's Scholarship, are chosen by local DeVry University campuses and DeVry University's online committee.

Open to all 2009 high school graduates who meet the following criteria:

  1. Recognized as a Dean's Scholarship winner by March 9, 2009
  2. Minimum of 3.33 CGPA (on a 4.0 scale) and in the top 50% of graduating class
  3. ACT composite score of 24 or higher or SAT combined math and critical reading score of 1100 or higher or CPT composite score of 430 or higher (Canada only)
  4. Selected by local campus committee on essay, GPA and teacher recommendation

Dean's Scholarship

This merit award provides high school graduates and GED recipients with meaningful tuition assistance and, provided all eligibility requirements are met, allows recipients to apply for the most prestigious DeVry University awardthe Presidential Scholarship.

Open to all 2009 high school graduates and GED recipients with ACT composite score of 24 or higher or SAT combined math and critical reading score of 1100 or higher or CCPT composite score of 430 or higher (Canada only).

DeVry High School Scholarship

Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and recommendation by a high school guidance counselor or principal, the DeVry High School Scholarship provides an opportunity for new DeVry University students to offset the cost of their education throughout their program.

Open to all 2009 high school graduates who meet the following criteria:

  1. In the top 50% of graduating class or have a combined CGPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the junior year. (CGPA is determined on a 4.0 scale. CGPA conversion must be determined and supplied by the high school if the CGPA is calculated using any other scale besides 4.0.)
  2. Nominated by high school guidance counselor or principal

High school graduates or GED recipients with technical certification who are interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree at DeVry University can get help paying for their higher education through the Cisco/CompTIA Scholarship. The scholarship helps foot the bill for a technology degree qualification that adds unmatched value to your resume.

Open to all 2009 high school graduates and GED recipients who meet the following criteria:

  1. Successfully completed IT Essentials I or CCNA Semester I prior to entering DeVry University, or have received one of the following:
    - Certificate of Completion from Cisco or CompTIA stating successful completion

Available to outstanding high school seniors who dream of earning a college degree but may not have the financial means to pay for it all themselves, the Banco Popular "Dream Big" scholarship provides a gateway to students to reach their fullest potential.

FIRST Scholar ½ tuition Scholarship

Available to seniors for the high school graduating class of 2009 in the United States or Canada that have participated on a team in any one of the FTC or FRC FIRST Robotics competitions within the 2008-2009 academic year.

Eligibility for the FIRST Scholar 1/2 tuition Scholarship (4 available)

  1. Must be a registered participant on an FRC or FTC team during the 2008/2009 year.

Employment Gap Scholarship

With thousands of Americans losing their jobs during the past year, and with thousands more expected by the end of 2009, DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management is awarding the Employment Gap Scholarship to displaced workers to help them obtain the education they need to hone their current skills to be competitive for the jobs that are available or retrain for a new career.

Open to all new undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Displaced from their job within the last 12 months and demonstrate the greatest financial need
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any other required financial aid forms
  3. Attend at least two classes (9 credit hours) per session
  • Deadline:
      August 3, 2009 and September 28, 2009
  • Award amount:
      $1,000 per semester
  • Number available:
      2 per DeVry location and 10 scholarships for online students for each remaining session in 2009
  • Verification:
      Proof of unemployment via official documentation showing an unemployment claim in the last 12 months

      Must maintain at least 2 classes or 9 credit hours per session and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0

Educator Fellowship

With course work charged at 60 percent of the prevailing tuition rate, DeVry University's Educator Fellowship puts an undergraduate or graduate degree within reach and helps educators keep up-to-date on the latest trends and opportunities in business and technology and hone the skills needed to be successful in these fields.

Open to full-time administrators, faculty and administrative staff employed at these eligible institutions: elementary, middle, junior or high school; nationally or regionally accredited college or university.

  • Verification:
      Fellowship Employment Verification Form filled out completely and signed by the candidate's employer at an eligible institution.
  • Deadline
      Must apply for the fellowship prior to starting classes and begin classes prior to August 2009. Continuing students may be eligible with proof of change of occupation.
  • Award amount:
      Awarded students are charged 60% of the prevailing tuition rate
  • Number available:
      Unlimited, or until fellowship dollars are depleted
  • Offered:
      United States and Canada, onsite or online
  • Continued eligibility:
      Must provide employment verification form to the Campus Registrar, to the Center Dean or, in the case of an online student, email to the registrar prior to each semester.
Other requirements:

  1. Must proceed through the traditional application for admissions process and meet admissions requirements
  2. May enroll in undergraduate or graduate course work for which you are eligible, full or part-time, matriculating or non-matriculating
  3. May attend onsite or online
  4. Continuing students may apply if they become eligible. However, current students who have not applied for the fellowship prior to beginning courses can only be awarded going forward (applied to student's financial aid package during the next session), and will not be retro-activated for any reason.

AMVETS Scholarship

Awarded on the basis of financial need, the DeVry University AMVETS Scholarship provides an exceptional opportunity to veterans of the military as well as their spouses and natural or adopted children to pursue more affordable higher education with financial aid awarded each semester.

Open to veterans (and their immediate family members) of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, their respective reserve forces, the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard who meet the following criteria established by both AMVETS and DeVry University.

AMVETS Criteria:
  1. Demonstrate financial need to continue your education; not receiving 100% tuition reimbursement
  2. Not an employee or family member of AMVETS National Headquarters or DeVry University
  3. Submit a complete, signed application together with all supporting documentation, if any, by the deadline dates. (The application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to applicant.) The application includes the following:
  4. Completed and signed AMVETS/DeVry University Scholarship Form (download from http://www.amvets.org/devry or call 877-726-8387, ext 4031)
  5. Comprehensive essay on one of the following topics:
    - What a Higher Education Means to Me
    - My Long-Term Career Goal Is
    - America Needs to Support Veterans and the Active Duty Because
  6. Essay must be a minimum of two (2) full pages, not to exceed a maximum of four (4) pages. Essays not meeting the minimum or exceeding the maximum page number will not be considered. In addition the essay must be double spaced, in 12-point font, on 8.5"x11" paper and paper-clipped together (please no staples).
  7. Copy of Veteran's DD214 (download from http://www.amvets.org/devry or call 877-726-8387, ext 4031)
  8. Signed copy of applicant's or parent's(s')/guardian's(s') 1040 tax form (for most recent year). Form will be used to verify financial need.

AMVETS will provide a list of fifteen (15) ranked applicants to DeVry University. Of the fifteen (15) submitted, ten (10) will be selected and those remaining that meet the DeVry University requirements will receive awards the following semester. The selection of applicants will be made without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, condition or disability or any other unlawful consideration.

DeVry University Criteria:

  • Has been selected by AMVETS and appears on AMVETS Scholarship candidate list
  • Student is a United States citizen or a legal resident
  • Student has applied for admission to an undergraduate or graduate degree program at DeVry University/Keller Graduate School of Management in the United States
  • Application fee and tuition deposit paid at time of application (required for undergraduate applicants only)
  • Meet DeVry University current admissions requirements and accepted into chosen degree program
  • Awarded the scholarship prior to starting classes at DeVry University.
  • Deadline:
    Must begin classes at DeVry University or its Keller Graduate School of Management within two semesters of being awarded the scholarship.
  • Award amount:
    $1,000 per semester per award (valued at up to $9,000)
  • Number available:
    Ten (10) per semester / Thirty (30) total per year
  • Offered:
    Within the United States, onsite or online classes
  • Notification of award acceptance:
    Recipients of the awards must notify DeVry University and AMVETS of their decision to accept or reject the award within thirty (30) days of being notified that they have been selected.
  • Continued eligibility:
    Must maintain a 2.0 CGPA on a 4.0 scale and continuous enrollment. Full-time student (minimum of 12 credits) receives 100 percent of award per semester. Half-time student (minimum of 6 credits) receives 50 percent of award per semester. Anything less than half time will result in loss of scholarship.
Veteran's
Appreciation Grant

Veteran's Appreciation Grant

Extending our appreciation for military service, DeVry University offers a Veteran's Appreciation Grant to help offset the costs of higher education and make college accessible for hardworking, talented students who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Open to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, their respective reserve forces, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard). Current member of the U.S. Armed Forces (those serving on active duty, guard, reserve, and their spouses) who qualify for the military tuition rate are not eligible for this grant

  • Verification:
    Student must provide a DD 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, or an NGB 22, National Guard Report of Separation or Record of Service. The discharge characterization or disposition must not be a Dishonorable Discharge. Student Finance will award the grant to the student after review of provided documentation.
  • Award amount:
    $500 per semester for a full-time student (valued at up to $4,500). Part-time students will receive a prorated grant, but must carry at least 6 credit hours per semester (e.g., 6 hrs = $250, 9 hrs = $375 per semester).
  • Number available:
    Unlimited
  • Offered:
    Any United States location or online.
  • Continued eligibility:
    Enrollment for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale are required for continued eligibility.
Other information:

  1. This grant is available to all veterans who provide the specified documentation.
  2. If the student withdraws from the institution and has to reapply for admission, the student will be required to resubmit the military service documentation needed to reinstate this grant. In this case, prior semester usage of this grant will be deducted from the total grant amount.
  3. Students who qualify for employee tuition benefits, current military rate, AMVETS scholarship, or any other DeVry University grant or scholarship are not eligible for this grant.
  4. This grant may be used in conjunction with the G.I. Bill or any state veteran's programs, provided the funding source is outside of DeVry, Inc.
  5. Students receiving Vocational Rehabilitation funding from the Veterans' Administration are not eligible for this grant.

Scholarship Guidelines

A student may participate in one DeVry University-based scholarship or tuition benefit program only. Students who qualify for more than one degree program will be presumed to accept the program with the highest reduction in by-semester cost. Students who qualify for and prefer a different scholarship or tuition benefit program must confirm, in writing, the alternate degree program in which they wish to participate prior to starting classes at DeVry University.

  • Availability of scholarships is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
